Ethiopia to Host 16th International Conference on HIV/AIDS |

The Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, is making final preparations to host the 16th international conference on HIV/AIDS in Africa. The conference will bring together more than 7,000 delegates, including health professionals and scientists on the front lines of the battle against sexually-transmitted infections.

Two African Union(AU) peacekeepers were wounded in a suicide car bombing near their base after the peacekeepers shot at the approaching vehicle, officials said. "Two of our soldiers were slightly injured after they foiled an attempt to attack one of our bases in Mogadishu," Bridgeye Bahouku, spokesperson for the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), told Xinhua.

German, Ethiopian banks signs guarantee agreement |

The Oromia International Bank of Ethiopia (OIB) and the German Development Bank, or Entwicklungsbank (KfW), on Tuesday signed a Credit Guarantee Framework Agreement for loans of OIB to Microfinance Institutions (MFIs). On behalf of the German government, KfW signed an agreement with the government of Ethiopia to bridge funding gaps of MFIs, according to the German bank.
