Under the agreement inked Monday, the EU will contribute 12 million euros and Gabon 7 million euros to the project.
"Thanks to this project, we shall help Gabon to improve the living conditions of her citizens, through socio-economic development," said Christina Martins Barreira, who heads the EU delegation in the Economic Community of Central African States.
She said, "The choice of this program was not accidental" because some of Libreville's districts are highly populated and that people live in deplorable conditions.
The project was signed under the auspices of the National Indicative Program of the 10th European Development Fund, which targets urban drainage in the Central African country.
