Nigeria, Poland sign political consultation agreement

The Nigerian government and the government of Poland on Sunday in Abuja signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on bilateral cooperation to strengthen political consultation between both countries.

The development followed the visit of a high level delegation by the Polish Government led by its Deputy Foreign Minister Beata Stalmach.

Nigeria's Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Martin Uhoimoibhi, who signed on behalf of the country, said the new cooperation marked a watershed in the diplomatic relations between Nigeria and Poland.

In her remarks, Stalmach said the new cooperation was a great opportunity to further bilateral relations between Poland and Nigeria.

She said the two countries were strategic partners in many areas.

Stalmach said the annual meeting of Polish Ambassadors in Sub- Saharan Africa was held in Nigeria, given the importance of diplomatic ties between both nations.

The two countries already have partnership in education, agriculture, energy and power.
