Niger adopts law approving delimitation of common border with Burkina Faso
|

| The Nigerien government on Friday adopted a law authorizing the implementation of an agreement that was signed between Niger and Burkina Faso regarding the delimitation of their common border.
|
|
The law is in relation to the agreement that was signed on Oct. 29, 2009 by Burkina Faso's regional cooperation minister and on Nov. 2, 2009 by Niger's foreign minister regarding the border areas between the two countries.
The differences between the two countries over the disputed regions of N'gourma, Tong-Tong, Botou and the area neighboring river Mekrou were taken before the International Court of Justice.
A comprise was found and the two parties agreed to sign an agreement for the delimitation of the border between them.
The agreement for the marking of the border between the two countries was signed on March 28, 1987.

President Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger said, on Tuesday when visiting President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja, that his country planned to export petroleum products to Nigeria to ameliorate the problem of scarcity of the products facing residents of 19 Northern Nigerian states.
