Hundreds rally in Mogadishu to celebrate death of Osama Bin Laden

Hundreds of the resident of Mogadishu on Wednesday rallied in the streets to celebrate the death of Osma bin laden, leader of Al Qaeda terror network, who was killed on Sunday in U.S. raid in Pakistan.

The huge crowds who gathered at a main street in the government- held side of the Somali capital chanted anti-Al Qaeda slogans and carried posters and placards condemning the leader of the terror network and its local affiliate Al Shabaab.

The rally, which was organized by local civil society groups, congratulated the U.S. president Barrack Obama for ordering the mission to kill America's most wanted man at a mansion in the Pakistani city of Abbatobad near Islamabad.

The Somali Islamist group of Al Shabaab previously pledged allegiance to Osama Bin Laden and his movement while the Al Qaeda' s top leadership including Bin laden himself "blessed" Al Shabaab and its campaign against Somali government and African Union peacekeeping troops supporting the government.

Al Shabaab which has foreign fighters on its ranks has been behind several deadly suicide attacks that killed Somali government forces and African peacekeepers as well as senior government officials including ministers as well as civilians since the start of the current insurgency.

People at the rally burned the flag of Al Qaeda while some others carried posters that read: "Terror terror go away, little kids want to play". Another said: "Osama is dead. No more fund, no more Al Shabaab, no more terror".

Speakers at the rally said that they hope the problems in Somalia will likely end with the death of the spiritual leader of Al Qaeda who has inspired local radical group of Al Shabaab which is believed to receive training and funding from Al Qaeda.

They said that the reclusive leader of Al Shabaab who was never seen in public after taking control of the movement will face the same fate as Osama urging the government to "finish off Al Shabaab" which has lately been facing strings of failures at the hands of Somali government forces and African Union peacekeepers.

Somali president on Sunday welcome the death of Bin laden saying he was instrumental in the problems of Somalia and that peace will prevail in Somalia as a result of the killing of Osama bin laden.

Somalia has been through two decades of civil conflict with Al Qaeda inspired militancy raging for the past four years in mainly south and centre of the war-ravaged east African nation.
