Gambia calls on citizens to join in fight against drug abuse
| The Gambian government Tuesday called on citizens to join in the effort in eradicating drug abuse to ensure better life within communities.
National Drug and Enforcement Agency (NDEA) Deputy Director Kalilu Njie made the call when the official spoke here at a ceremony commemorating the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
Njie said the day is set by the United Nations office on Drug and Crime to call for global action for healthy communities without drugs, while Gambia has its own theme -- a healthy nation without illicit dugs begins with me.
"Choosing this theme we are urging all citizens to take it as personal responsibility to curb drug abuse in our community, as the NDEA alone cannot successfully win the war," Njie said.
