Chief of Egypt's ruling military council Hussein Tantawi said on Wednesday the country will set an example of fair and free elections to the world in its selection of a new president.

Some 58 leaders and supporters of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC), which was in power in Guinea-Bissau before the April 12 coup d'etat, have been banned from travelling outside the national territory, a statement from the military leaders who carried out the coup d'etat said on Tuesday.
